a softer sound, an earthquake

Collaboration with Feronia Wennborg

Developed during a weeklong residency at Fylkingen, premiered in Stockholm July 2022

This improvised voice and violin performance is part of a larger process of sounding together in different spaces that Feronia and I have been developing. For this piece we spent the week in the black box space at Fylkingen, finding authentic ways of being with the space and with each other. The heat of the light, the texture of the piano stool, the distance in between us, the presence of the audience. Getting an intimate familiarity with each element allowed the sonic fabric to develop the precision that can be heard in the performance. We tested different configurations and settled on a simple and bare showcasing of intimacy, anguish and everything in between.
